Sunbol narrowly survived a Taliban attack on her home village in Nooristan. When was just 8 years old, she run away against her family’s will and travelled all the distance to Kabul hiding on the trunk of a wagon. Her elder sister took her to Mehan Orphanage, one of AFCECO facilities in Kabul and there she began a new life.

The little Sunbol amazed the children and the staff by her extraordinary talent in arts; in 2012, she joined Afghanistan National Institute of Music and is now a violinist of Zohra Orchestra, Afghanistan’s first female orchestra.
