Diana’s life has been a series of heartwrenching tragedies. Born into poverty, her family was shattered by the Taliban’s rise to power. Her father lost his job in the police force, and her uncle was killed by the Taliban, leading to the heartbreak-induced deaths of her grandparents. Her elder uncle turned to drugs in his grief, losing his mind and eventually being imprisoned by the Taliban. Her illiterate mother was left to bear the family’s burdens, sinking into debt. In May 2025, Diana and her brother Elham found solace at AFCECO’s orphanage in Islamabad. There, Diana was enrolled in a private school, offering a glimmer of hope amid a life overshadowed by loss and suffering.
