Elham’s life has been a series of heartwrenching tragedies. Born into poverty, his family was shattered by the Taliban, leading to the heartbreak-induced deaths of his grandparents. His elder uncle turned to drugs in his grief, losing his mind and eventually being imprisoned by the Taliban. His illiterate mother was left to bear the family’s burdens, sinking into debt. In May 2025, Elham and his sister Diana found solace at AFCECO’s orphanage in Islamabad. There, Elham was enrolled in a private school, offering a glimmer of hope amid a life overshadowed by loss and suffering.
