Nooria was born into a life marked by war and displacement. In 2017, her family fled the brutal clashes between ISIS and the Afghan government, ending up in a makeshift camp near Jalalabad where hunger and disease claimed children’s lives every day. Her father, struggling with addiction and exhausting work at a brick factory, was unable to provide for the family.
Once one of the best students in her village, Nooria’s education was cut short as she sat beside her mother weaving carpets, just to keep the family alive. That same year, she and her sisters found refuge at AFCECO’s Mehan Orphanage, where her schooling was restored and her hope for the future began to grow again.
Today, Nooria lives in an AFCECO safe home in Islamabad and attends a private school. Bright, curious, and determined, she loves math, reading, and drawing. Her dream is to become a doctor—to heal others and bring hope to her people.
