Safa

Safa grew up in a family overwhelmed by hardship. With too many siblings to care for, a father struggling with mental illness, and a mother battling sickness, her parents were unable to protect their children. Their village in Afghanistan was caught in constant fighting between U.S. forces and the Taliban, forcing the family to move from place to place in search of safety and survival.

In the chaos of poverty and war, Safa and her sisters were at great risk of being forced into marriage or taken by Taliban militants. But in 2023, her life changed when she was welcomed into AFCECO’s safehouse in Kabul. Later, she was relocated to Islamabad, where she now lives in a caring home with other girls who have also escaped hardship. Today, Safa attends an international private school and, in 2025, proudly entered the 6th grade.

Bright and resilient, Safa is finally safe, learning, and free to dream of a future filled with hope.
