Seyar

Seyar’s mother was a women’s rights activist who worked at shelters supporting vulnerable women during Afghanistan’s previous government. When the Taliban returned in 2021, the family was forced to flee to Pakistan, where she applied for refugee status in the U.S. But life in Pakistan has been extremely difficult. Crackdowns on Afghan refugees and harsh living conditions left the family under constant emotional strain. Living only on her savings, Seyar’s mother soon faced overwhelming financial hardship and could no longer provide for her three children.

Despite her struggles, Seyar’s mother became a source of strength for AFCECO’s safe homes in Islamabad, using her experience to help girls heal from trauma. In 2025, Seyar himself was welcomed into one of AFCECO’s caring homes. Today, he attends the same private school as the other children, finally having the stability, education, and hope every child deserves.
